Goodways opened as a 90-bed community hospital on Riverside Parkway in 1978. We have grown into a full health system without giving up what made us useful: knowing our patients by name.

Our history
1978
Goodways opens
A 90-bed community hospital opens on Riverside Parkway with a 24-hour emergency department.
1992
Heart program established
Cardiac catheterization and open-heart surgery begin, ending long drives for advanced cardiac care.
2004
Level II Trauma verification
The emergency department earns ACS Level II Trauma Center verification.
2011
Cancer Center established
Medical and radiation oncology come together under one roof with an on-site infusion suite.
2018
Level III NICU opens
Private birthing suites and a Level III neonatal intensive care unit open on Level 3.
2026
New pediatric wing
Thirty-two private pediatric rooms open, funded largely by community giving.

Community impact
Last year Goodways provided $18.4 million in charity care and community benefit, ran 62 free screening events, and trained 140 nursing and allied health students. Our community health workers made 4,900 home visits to patients recovering after discharge.
